Artist Statement & CV

My works include portraits of people's daily life, abstract expression of social stigmas that I have experienced that often go overlooked (e.g., mental health chronic illness, micro-aggression as a person of color, and queer discrimination), and conceptual illustrations inspired by fairy tales and classic fables from around the world.

Through my art, I seek to express the vastness of the world through the study of semi-realism and expressionism. Representation is important, and I want to convey humanity and express the representation in a friendly and fun way by using a bright color palette in my illustrative work and a monochromatic color palette for my realism works to emphasize life. My work explores the abstractness of life with dynamic compositions by using graphite, ink, and pastels to create softer images and reflections of life.

By incorporating individual experiences in my illustrations and drawings I wish for my art acts as a window into my life as well as a representation for other people of color who can relate to my stories and interests.
